Many names. One presence.
Have you left inherited religion to find the goddess?
Or, do you sense there is more to Her ancient wisdom than Westernized Divine Feminine teachings suggest?
Perhaps you are being called to know Her in all her Fierce Mercy—amid this parched landscape where Her stories, anthems, and rituals have always flowed like Living Water.
I left my inherited religion to find the goddess. Strangely enough, I ended up back in the desert of the Middle East.
Religious exile might have helped me find my spiritual freedom, but returning to the desert taught me that I had never been Motherless at all.
Now it's my joy to create spaces where people can encounter the Mother in Her original desert world—and connect deeply with the ancestors who kept Her memory alive along the way.
I still live near the sacred desert and travel around it whenever I can. Being here is literally like being held by the Divine Mother Herself.
Lisa Moriah shares this teaching on the HINENI podcast:
Join Lisa Moriah for talks about the many faces of the Divine Mother in the traditions that pre-dated Judaism, Christianity, and Islam—as well as forgotten early religious currents like Apocalyptic Gnosticism.
Explore facets of the tradition through this evolving Substack project on all things mystical ascent:
Vocal work is one way we can reconnect to the Divine Mother in desert languages such as Sumerian, Akkadian, Hebrew, Aramaic, Syriac, and Coptic.
The vibrations of sacred chant in these languages offer soothing affects to the body, and are believed by many desert traditions to be related to the celestial movements above.
Your body is a portal returning you to the Mother's desert heart and cosmic womb.
