About Lisa Moriah

I'm a researcher, writer, ritualist, artist, musician, and long-time desert pilgrim.

My work explores the ancient mysteries of the Heavenly Human: the desert traditions and practices of making pilgrimage between the sand and the stars.

My name, ליסע (Lisa), means “to travel” in Hebrew, which has proven strangely appropriate. For almost a decade, I've traveled through the sacred landscapes of Mesopotamia, Anatolia, the Levant, and Egypt, following the traces of ancient traditions that understood the relationship between humanity and the cosmos very differently than we do today.

Along the way, I became fascinated by the worlds of Harran and Edessa, ancient Israelite temple cosmology, Jewish apocalyptic and ascent literature, and the remarkable spiritual anthropology preserved in Syriac and Egyptian Christianity.

I'm interested in seeing what happens when we bring these traditions into lived reality again. The heavenly journeys of Enoch, the mysteries of the Books of Jeu, the luminous humanity of Syriac poetry, and the perfected human of Islamic mysticism all offer different ways of approaching a question that has come to define my work:

What does it mean to become a meeting place between earth and heaven?

I explore that question through research and writing, but also through embodied practice. Sacred sound, chant, prayer, ritual, and pilgrimage are essential to my work. I play the frame drum, ney, and oud, and am particularly interested in how ancient mystical texts can become living experiences through music.

My devotional life remains rooted in the older sacred worlds that first drew me into this journey, particularly Lady Wisdom, Shaddai, and Nanna-Sîn of Harran. I understand these relationships as part of a continuing pilgrimage into the mysteries of heaven and earth.

House of Divine Radiance grew from this convergence of scholarship, devotion, and experience. It is where I bring these different threads together under the name Cosmic Devotion, inviting others to explore the ancient pathways toward inner wholeness, sacred wonder, and cosmic belonging.

I currently live in Cairo, where my days are divided between old books, ancient languages, sacred music, art, and the occasional expedition through the city's medieval streets.
