Ekklesia Emperome Ent'pe
Church of the Heavenly Human
A monthly journey through the mysteries of cosmic ascent.
Ancient Jewish and Christian visionary traditions preserve a startling question:
What is a human being capable of becoming?
Ekklesia Emperome Ent'pe enters the visionary worlds surrounding the Heavenly or Cosmic Human: ascent through the heavens, encounter with divine glory, transformation into the divine image, heavenly temples, and angelic humanity. We also delve into the early Christian traditions—often called gnostic—that developed within this larger Jewish apocalyptic world.
This is not simply a study group about strange ancient texts, most of which came down to us in Sahidic Coptic or Jewish Aramaic.
Each gathering also asks what these cosmologies reveal about human transformation. Through teaching, conversation, contemplative practice, sacred sound, and embodied exploration, we will approach ascent as both an ancient religious tradition and a profound anthropology: a way of asking what a human being is, what has been forgotten, and what it might mean to become fully human.
No specialist knowledge required to participate. Come curious.

Details on the six-month journey
October 30 · The Heavenly Human: What Are We Becoming?
We begin with the central mystery of the series: the Human above and the human below. We’ll explore divine image, heavenly humanity, and the ancient idea that human transformation may involve becoming more fully what humanity was always meant to be.
Core question: What if salvation is not escape from being human, but the restoration of humanity itself?
November 27 · Throne, Temple & Ascent: The Jewish Visionary World
Before Christian mysticism there were Jewish journeys through heavens, temples, thrones, angels, and divine glory. We’ll enter the apocalyptic and visionary matrix from which much early Christian mystical language emerged. This is a natural extension of the guide A Love Song for the End of the World.
Core question: What changes when early Christianity is placed back inside its visionary Jewish world?
December 27 · Image, Glory & the Human from Heaven
From Adamic traditions to Enoch to heavenly archetypes, we’ll explore the relationship between divine image, lost glory, restoration, and the mysterious correspondence between earthly and heavenly humanity.
Core question: What was humanity imagined to have lost, and what did the practice of mystical ascent promise to restore?
January 29 · Clothed in Light: Transformation & the Garments of Glory
Ancient ascent traditions repeatedly describe transformation through radiance, garments, new bodies, angelic likeness, and participation in divine glory. This gathering explores how light functions in this older biblical cosmology, and how we can embody it.
Core question: What did ancient visionaries mean when they imagined the human being becoming luminous?
February 26 · Magdalene at the Threshold: Matrilineal Witness, Revelation & Ascent
Mary Magdalene stands within early Christian traditions as witness, recipient of revelation, teacher, and figure at the boundary between worlds. We’ll explore Magdalene traditions alongside the wider visionary and ascent currents of early Christianity.
Core question: What kind of human being is capable of receiving revelation and carrying it back into the world?
March 26 · Becoming the Heavenly Human: Living the Cosmology
Our final gathering brings the celestial architecture home. What happens when ascent stops being merely a map of heaven and becomes a way of understanding human formation, perception, embodiment, vocation, and life?
Core question: If the purpose of ascent is transformation, what does the transformed human return to Earth to do?
